Housing options are available to your unique situation including: housing for families, single service members, families that are enrolled in the exceptional family member program, pet owners and unaccompanied personnel. There is only privatized housing aboard Naval Support Activity Mid-South. They can be reached at 901-677-0800. All military personnel are required to check in at Navy Housing. You can pick up an application from Navy Housing or visit our website. There are approximately 281 housing units on base. The average wait time for those interested in moving into base housing is 1-3 months.
Pets – There is a two-pet limit to reside in Navy housing. Dogs not allowed are Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Wolf Hybrids, Chow Chows, Doberman Pinschers, Perro de Presa Canarios, English Staffordshire Terriers, Akitas, Mastifs, Great Danes & Alaskian Malamutes.
Single Service Member HousingAll single sailors E-4 and below are required to live on base. All rooms aboard NSA Mid-South are single occupancy. Rules and regulations are given to active-duty members for signature once a room has been assigned. There are apartments and duplexes available for rent. Most apartments are available on a long-term basis and come unfurnished.
Exceptional Family Member Program Housing
There are three units available for families with special-needs members. All housing units are air-conditioned. Generators are not available for families with significant medical needs who require power for their medical equipment. For those requiring medical equipment, a Residence Energy Conservation Program waiver may be obtained from Navy Housing to help pay for electricity. Mid-South Family Housing allows special-needs families to be listed at the top 10% of the housing waiting list. You must be enrolled in the EFMP and your special need must be documented on both the outgoing command's housing application and the receiving command's housing application. You must also receive a housing letter of approval from your military treatment facility coordinator. For additional questions or concerns, please visit the Naval Personnel Command website.

Rental Options
A 701 sq.ft apartment in the Memphis area averages around $1001, while the average rent for a 930 sq.ft. apartment in the Millington area is $1147. The cost of rent varies depending on several factors, including location, size and quality. Three-bedroom houses rent for $1150 a month and up. Four-bedroom houses are renting for $1860 and up. Two-bedroom homes, when available rent for $800 and up.
Purchase Options
There are no programs available to assist active-duty members in purchasing a house aboard Naval Support Activity Mid-South. The Millington housing market is competitive with the median sale price in May 2023 of the mid $200K range. Our cost of living is moderate.
