Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Child and Youth Programs provide Child Development and recreational services for children 6 weeks to 18 years of age. The Child Development Center provides full and part day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The School Age Center provides before and after school care and Day Camp experiences for children Kindergarten thru sixth grade. Call the Child Care Resources Office at 901-874-5745.

The Child Development Center at NSA Mid-South offers care for children, six weeks to five years of age. Full time, weekly care is offered. The Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Mid-South CDC is located in Building S-943 and can be reached by calling 901-874-5745.
Hours of Operation - The Center is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Programs Available - Programs available include full time weekly care and Preschool Program.
Eligibility/Enrollment Criteria - All active duty, activated reserves and DOD employees are eligible for the CDC services, with space available for civilians.
Availability - A waiting list, based on the family's status, is maintained via Militarychildcare.com.
Costs - Rates for care are based on a sliding scale and are figured by Total Family Income.
A Child Development Home Program is currently NOT available. However, residents in government quarters, military (active and retired) and spouses off base in Shelby and Tipton county may be certified as a CDH provider. All persons who wish to care for children in their home on a regular and continuing basis must be certified by the CDH coordinator. For more details, call 901-874-5745.
The Navy Youth Center, Bldg. 936, is located on Savitz Road adjacent to Capehart Housing, 901-874-5155 (DSN: 882). We coordinate a year-round program to provide youth, grades K-6th, with desirable activities to occupy their leisure time. Before & After School Program, Summer Day Camp and mini-holiday camps are offered throughout the year. Hourly care is also available on a space available basis. Eligibility/Enrollment Criteria-all active duty, activated reserves and DoD employees are eligible for the School Age Care program.
