Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
Navy Legal Service Office is currently offering all legal services by appointment only. Their office is located on the first floor of Building S-455 at 7700 Hornet Ave. Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. To schedule an appointment or reach legal services, please call 901-874-7379 or email legaloffice@us.navy.mil.
The Legal office provides a wide range of appointment-only services for eligible personnel. These include administrative tasks such as General and Special Powers of Attorney and standard notary services. Additionally, they provide professional legal advice on critical personal matters such as estate planning, divorce, separation, custody, adoption, paternity, and legal name changes. The staff is also equipped to support you with civil and consumer issues, including property and landlord-tenant law, tax law, consumer fraud or abuse, creditor/debtor issues, and predatory lending. They also offer advocacy and assistance with naturalization and immigration, military rights and benefits, and domestic violence or assault cases.
These legal services are available to active-duty service members, their family members, and reservists on active-duty orders of 30 days or more (including their dependents). This eligibility also extends to personnel and their family members who have been activated for mobilizations or demobilizations for more than 30 days.
Retirees & veterans are limited to in-office services, however the staff can provide outside civilian resources.
Household Goods Claims Services
The purpose of this service is to recover monies from the carriers related to damaged or missing household goods. Military families are encouraged to maintain receipts.
