Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Military Spouse Appointment Child Care - This is a new program for Active Duty Military Spouses who have an appointment may use FREE child care with a Family Child Care Provider during their scheduled appointment time. Families will need to provide documentation of the appointment i.e. a medical appointment or a schedule for a job interview to the FCC office.
AF Family Child Care Subsidy Program - This AF sponsored program allows parents to use a FCC home for the same cost as CDC or SAP (summer camp) as long as there is not a space available in the CDC or SAP. The CDC and SAP fees are based on total family income.
Extended Duty Care Program - This program allows for evening/weekend child care be provided in a contracted FCC home for mission related duty period beyond normal child care arrangements, for temporary shift changes, extended work days, etc. Care is funded through an AF contract and is free for eligible parents.
Home Community Care - This program allows ANG/AFR parents to use licensed and affiliated EDC FCC homes during drill weekends for free. Care is funded through an AF contract and must be pre-approved through the FCC Office.
Deployment Child Care - This program offers 16 hours of free child care (per child) to military members before a deployment that is in support of "contingency operations". The member must be deployed for a minimum of 30 days and a copy of orders are required. An additional 16 hours is offered to the family each month of the deployment and an additional 16 hours is offered after returning home as long as used within 30 days of return. Care is offered in a contracted FCC home to children ages 2 weeks - 12 years. Care is funded through an AF contract and is free to eligible parents.
EFMP Respite Child Care - This program is designed to assist AF families with short-term child care to help reduce the stresses associated with caring for an exceptional family member. Exceptional Child can receive care until 19 years old. Sibling care is available for children up to age 12. Airmen must be Q-coded. Exceptional member needs to be identified with a disability as moderate or severe. Available to Active Duty AF and Activated Reserve/Guard members.
24/7 Child Care - This is for families that have work hours outside the normal operating hours of the Child Development Center or Youth Programs (0630-1800). Designed to support shift workers and any personnel that work overnights, holidays, and weekends (e.g. Security Forces, Command Post, Fire Department, Force Support). Parents must purchase full time care in a child care program.
One of the Air Force's best Child Development programs is located at Scott AFB. Our centers provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. To serve our population, we have two facilities, building 1805 & 1807.
Services offered include weekly and hourly child care. Each program works to meet your child's needs and to provide an environment where parents feel secure leaving their children for the day.
Our Child Development Program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and is certified by the Department of Defense. Each care area is staffed in accordance with Air Force regulations.
Reasonable fees and nutritious meals are just part of the overall program.

The Scott AFB School Age Program at the Youth Center has immediate openings for youth attending school in the Mascoutah School District. Children ages 5-12 are picked up or bussed to the Youth Center before and after school and full days.
The program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation and provides homework help, physical activities and other high-yield learning in a hands-on environment where children can have fun, build relationships and learn.
Families wanting to register for this care will need to do the following: Complete and sign an AF Form 1181 (AF Youth Flight Program Patron Registration) for each child. Parents must verify their income on DD Form 2652 by providing LES and pay statements. Complete USDA Eligibility Form and Registration Form. Complete Special Needs paperwork, if applicable.
Fees are based on family income. All forms needed for registration will be provided. Registration packets will be accepted Monday thru Friday from 0700-1400.
