When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. REPORTING PROCEDURES
Willkommen in Spangdahlem AB, Home of the Sabers! We are excited to have you as a member of our community!
All newly arrived members will report to their respective Squadron Command Support Staff (CSS) on their first day. Your CSS will provide you with a base and unit in-processing checklist and additional forms you might need.
2 – DAY NEWCOMERS’ ORIENTATION:
You will need to attend the Newcomers’ Orientation, hosted by the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC), as soon as possible to receive mandatory briefs from agencies on your in-processing checklist. To sign up for this orientation, visit the Newcomers’ Orientation Page.
To prepare for your PCS, the M&FRC hosts a virtual Pre-Arrival Orientation, which provides information from support agencies such as Child and Youth Programs, the School Liaison Program, and much more. Please contact the M&FRC (DSN: 314-452-6422) for the link to register.
Additionally, within 30 days of arrival, members are required to attend a Cultural Immersion workshop (offered by the M&FRC) to help you and your families with adapting to the area and the German lifestyle, such as:
TRAVEL PLANNING
Ensure that you have a room reserved prior to departing your current location and confirm your arrival date and time with your sponsor. Rooms can be booked well in advance and don't require orders at the time of reservation. Please have a copy of your PCS orders when you check in, as they may need to be verified by the Guest Services Representative at that time. Report to the Lodging Office after arrival to check into your room. If you still need to secure lodging, please visit the Eifel Arms Inn. A major credit card is required for booking. When making a reservation, also include any special requests such as pet accommodations.
Upon arrival, all Active Duty Service Members and civilian employees should immediately contact their unit assigned CSS, who will provide you with a unit in-processing checklist.
All Active Duty Service Members must in-process with the Finance Office within 5 duty days of arrival.
First Term Airmen who are required to live in the dorms should coordinate with their sponsors to move directly into their assigned dormitory upon arrival.
All Service Members not living in the dorms must contact the Housing Office within 2 duty days of arrival. The Housing Office contact information is: DSN 314-452-7133 or Comm: +49 06565-61-7133.
The reservation department will gladly work with individual or group bookings for active duty, DOD civilian, guard/reserve groups, PCSing members/families, TDY travel, and space available reservations. To start your reservation please call DSN 314-452-0500 or 06565-94-89989 commercial within Germany or 011-49-6565-94-89989 from the United States. WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET MARRIED EN ROUTE?
If you are planning on getting married en route, CONGRATULATIONS! Let your sponsor and First Sergeant know, so that you can receive logistical support information.
Additionally, visit the Military & Family Readiness Center (Bldg 307) for information and resources for you and your spouse as you navigate married life, life as a military spouse, and life at Spangdahlem. The M&FRC offers workshops - such as Saber Spouse Connection - that are intended for new military spouses or spouses who are new to the base.
