It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
A well-researched and strategic approach to employment is needed at an OCONUS base. Employment opportunities include Federal appropriated funded and nonappropriated funds positions, the Defense Commissary Agency, the Department of Defense Education Activity and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. The Spangdahlem Military and Family Readiness Center offers employment workshops to help you reach your employment goals. The first step is to attend Understanding Spouse Employment Spangdahlem to learn about spouse preference, types of resumes, agencies, and application processes. Spouses seeking employment should hand carry important documents such as their last leave without pay SF-50 (if prior civil service), Directives Division Form 214 (if prior military), school/college transcripts and resume through the PCS. It is helpful to maintain an electronic copy of your resume that you can easily update upon your arrival and tailor to the desired announcement.
