To help customers access moving resources more easily, Move.mil has moved to the Military OneSource website. Now, moving resources from the Defense Personal Property Program and Military OneSource are available on the Military OneSource website.

Access content from the former Move.mil website, including moving guides and tips, videos and FAQs, entitlement brochures, household goods shipment logistics, DPS log in and more. There are also links for retiring and separating members, specific service branch information and comprehensive relocation assistance.

Personal Property

You.

All Service Members must have orders and an account located in move.mil. to start the shipment process.

Once account is created, the Personal Property shipments are uploaded in DPS.

• Once your shipments are submitted, personnel from our office will review and contact you for a Face-To-Face briefing.
• POV Shipment is limited to 1 vehicle (POC: VPC at DSN: 452-7265) NOTE: POVs are recommended to be shipped at least 90 days prior to departure.<

• Do you have any items in storage at government expense?
• You are required to provide a 7-day window for the carriers pick for your pre-move survey, pack date, and pick up date. NOTE: If you have multiple shipments, please plan to schedule them on separate dates.
• Prohibited Items to ship are the following, but not limited to the following related items
• Any controlled substance: narcotics, steroids, hallucinogenic drugs, amphetamines
• Drug paraphernalia: Hookahs, Bongs
• Lithium Batteries: items that contain 100 watt hours or more. Commonly seen items to include but not limited to E-Bikes/Scooters, Power Tools, Lawn Care Equipment etc.
• Meat Products: prohibited unless shipped commercially by USDA-approved packing plant.
• Animal/Bird products: Trophies, skins, items may be imported if not restricted by US Fish & Wildlife

Privately Owned Firearms 

Do not ship privately owned firearms to Germany in household goods or unaccompanied baggage. Shipment could result in the destruction of the firearm as well as a criminal charge for the illegal importation of firearms.

Inbound personnel must ship their POF at their own expense after the following:
1) Completion of a U.S. Army in Europe Sports Shooter's Program (for handguns) or a USAREUR Hunting in Germany course (for hunting guns). The Hunting in Germany course spans six to eight weeks and costs approximately $250.
2) Passing a background check
3) Submission of AE Form 190-6D, Part A, "Application to Conduct FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check"
4) Acquisition of a German weapons owner's card (Waffenbesitzkarte)
5) Submission of AE Form 190-6D, "Application for Issuance of a Permit Pursuant to the German Weapons Law (Preapproval entry)/Application for a License to Acquire a Weapon/Reporting the Acquisition and Transfer of Ownership of a Weapon" (USAREUR Application for Registration of a Firearm)
6) Submission of AE Form 190-6H, "Commander's Statement of Reliability"
7) Submission of AE Form 550-175A from Military Customs Importation Certificate (Verbringungs-erlaubnis)

Note: You cannot ship paintball markers (guns) without TUV (Technischer Überwachungs-Verein: Technical Inspection Association) stamps in household goods. Shipment in household goods could result in them being confiscated and destroyed. Purchase or rent paintball marker (guns) with TUV upon arrival.

As soon as you receive your permanent change of station orders, it’s important to begin scheduling your move. Begin to plan what items will go in unaccompanied baggage, in your household goods shipment and in long-term, Non-Temporary Storage, or NTS, storage – check with your sponsor or overseas housing office to assist in determining what items to ship.

Moving with your pet includes researching airline requirements and quarantine restriction laws in your new location. Many airlines have requirements for size, weight, breed, number of animals, kennel construction, documentation and seasonal limitations. Small pets may be shipped on military flights, but availability and regulations frequently change. Contact your installation household goods/transportation office to request specific country instructions.
