If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
American Red CrossThe American Red Cross is always available for emergency aid anywhere you may be assigned. Contact the nearest chapter toll free at 877-272-7337. They can help with contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and what is happening. The command center can be contacted at 850-283-2155, DSN 312-523-2155, 24 hours a day.
The American Red Cross provides assistance for military personnel and their immediate families in times of emergency. Quick communication with home about family crisis is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This includes verification of death or serious illness, birth announcements to fathers deployed overseas and health and welfare reports resulting from loss of communication over an extended period of time. The Red Cross no longer offers emergency financial assistance in the form of interest-free loans or grants. Please refer to the Air Force Aid Society.
Air Force Aid Society
Air Force Aid provides financial assistance in the form of no-interest loans or grants to assist with emergencies. The Tyndall Air Force Aid Officer can be contacted through the Military and Family Readiness Center at 850-283-2400 during duty hours or after duty hours through the base command center at 850-283-2155 or DSN 312-523-2155. Emergencies happen without warning. There are many agencies and services that provide aid and assistance for other emergencies that cannot wait until the following day.
The Air Force Aid Society can provide emergency financial assistance based upon need through no-interest loans or grants.
Tyndall's First Sergeants' Association
Emergency financial assistance may be available.
Catholic CharitiesCatholic Charities is a nonprofit organization assisting families in need of furniture and food. Services are based on income level as well as emergency needs.
Religious Affairs (base chaplain)
The base chaplain is available to provide spiritual guidance and comfort in emergency situations. Chaplains may be contacted at 850-283-3280/DSN 312-523-3280 during duty hours or after duty hours through the base command center at 850-283-2155 or DSN 312-523-2155 for emergencies only.
