Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
Legal Office Hours:
Legal Assistance: Monday & Wednesday - 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. (appointment only)
Wills: Tuesday & Thursday - 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (appointment only)only) Call 850-283-3233 to schedule an appointment. Our office will provide eligible clients with a will worksheet to fill out before an appointment can be made. Please do not use the will worksheet from the Legal Assistance Website.
Power of Attorney & Notary: Monday - Friday (walk-in)
The purpose of legal services is to ensure that the legal difficulties of military members and their families do not adversely affect command effectiveness or mission readiness.
Eligibility
Active-duty military members, dependents and retired military personnel are eligible for legal assistance services. Reservists on active duty under Title 10 are eligible to receive wills and powers of attorney. Active status reservists or National Guard members who are not in an inactive duty training, not on active duty, or not currently in a duty status but subject to federal mobilization may receive mobilization – and deployment-related legal assistance.
Services Provided
Legal assistance does not encompass all legal problems or matters. It consists of providing legal advice on a variety of personal and or civil legal problems to eligible beneficiaries. For expediated service, visit the Air Force Legal Assistance Website before visiting the legal office. Click on legal worksheets and complete the relevant forms for your visit. Ensure to bring your ticket number and an attorney will be able to access your data.
Services Not Provided
Legal assistance does not include:
Advice on any criminal matter
Representation in any court or administrative proceeding, or the preparation of any court documents
Advice on official matters in which the Air Force has an interest.
Advice on legal concerns or issues raised on behalf of another person, even if the other person is eligible to receive legal assistance on his or her own behalf.
Advice on any matter in which you are already represented by an attorney.
Writing letters to any third party
Drafting divorce decrees, separation agreements or support agreements for which attorneys may, but are not required to, review these documents at their own discretion.
Drafting real estate or closing documents for which attorneys may, but are not required to, review these documents at their own discretion.
Drafting lease agreements
Advice or preparation of commercial business contracts or advice on matters relating to the ownership or operation of a private business.
Drafting or reviewing inter vivos trusts.
Drafting complicated wills, however, attorneys provide will services based on their discretion and skill level. Attorneys are not required to draft wills requiring estate planning for tax purposes or that include or require trusts other than simple trusts for the benefit of a minor child. Simple trusts for the benefit of a minor child do not include trusts with benefits conditioned upon any event other than achieving the age of majority.
