Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Tyndall Air Force Base Family Readiness Program provides assistance to spouses and family members while the military member is deployed, assigned temporary duty for more than 30 days or serving on a remote tour. Military members are required to out-process through the Family Readiness Section. Pre-Deployment briefs are held every Tuesday at 0830 and Reintegration briefings are held Monday’s and Wednesdays at 0830. Both briefings are on a walk-in basis and are held in building 662 room 222. Briefings for the service member are mandatory, and spouses of service members are highly encouraged to attend. These briefs are designed to ensure the service member and/or their spouses have taken a protective posture to alleviate stressors pertaining to deployments. The briefs ensure that the service member and their spouse is prepared prior to departure and up return by reminding service members to update their AFPAAS, VRED, and SGLI information and planning for emergencies. It also includes ensuring medical coverage is up to date, estate planning, tips for being away from family, and financial counseling to help alleviate hardships and potential stressors.
