Housing

The Garmisch community is fortunate to have adequate quarters available in one of the loveliest housing areas in all of Germany. It is ideally located between the forested Kramer Mountain and the Loisach River on a large cul-de-sac.

The housing area has plenty of spacious lawns and playgrounds for children. The majority of the quarters are two- to six-bedroom units in multiplex, stairwell buildings. The units are equipped with 110-volt and/or 220-volt electricity, have a private washer and dryer, a storage room in the basement and one designated parking spot per apartment.

Installation Management Command Europe has mandatory assignment to Government Family Housing that meets the minimum adequacy standards for Service Members with command-sponsored Family Members assigned to our community.

Your sponsor can provide further details or you can contact the Housing Office directly. Housing Office hours are Monday-Wednesday, 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon; and Friday, 8 a.m.-2:15 p.m. The office is closed 12:00-12:30 p.m. daily for lunch.

The Housing Office is located on Artillery Kaserne, Building 203, on the second floor. The office assigns government quarters (Army Family Housing and Unaccompanied Personnel Housing) and assists eligible customers in finding private rental housing, negotiation with landlords and understanding lease stipulations. In addition, they offer assistance as needed throughout your rental period.

Government Furniture

Service members and civilian customers arriving here with full logistical support are entitled to government furniture support that includes a loaner set of furniture for 90 days. Washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, wardrobes and kitchen cabinets are issued on a permanent basis.

It is highly recommended that you bring curtains and rugs as they are no longer provided. Your sponsor can assist with providing size requirements and additional information.

SELF HELP CUSTOMER SERVICE HOURS

- Small items (light bulbs, painting material) can be picked up in the Housing Office:

  Wednesday from 8-9 a.m. & Thursday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. 

- Larger items (garden tools, vacuum cleaner) please contact the Housing Office via phone or email ahead of time to schedule a pick up appointment
