The Sponsorship Program is alive and well in the USAG Bavaria Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau communities. If you are on assignment or have accepted a position and have not been contacted by your sponsor, contact your gaining organization or ACS. Youth Services has a Child and Youth Sponsorship program as well.
Youth Sponsorship -- So you're coming to Garmisch. Now what? Get Connected! Sign up for our Youth Sponsorship program and be paired with a Garmisch youth sponsor of the same age and interests. Your sponsor can tell you what's going on, where the fun is and what to expect when you arrive.
Permanent Change of Station Preparation -- It is highly recommended that you carry certain items with you: passports, all medical and dental records for you and your family, school records and transcripts, birth certificates, ID cards, your last Leave and Earnings Statement, addresses of all your creditors, banks, real estate agents, insurance companies, extra copies of your orders, current stateside driver’s licenses, the inventory sheets of your property shipments and extra refills for needed prescriptions (enough to get you by for a couple months until you get established with the local health providers). These are just a few suggestions. Any other phone numbers, addresses or important papers particular to you and/or your family should be considered. It is also a good idea to have originals of any legal documents you have, including marriage certificates, divorce decrees, adoption papers and school transcripts. Occasionally, you may need certified true copies of these, which can be obtained through the Legal Assistance Office, but only if you have the originals in your possession.
Please reach out to Army Community Service for additional support.
