If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
Sexual Assault
If you are the victim of a sexual assault, contact the Sexual Assault Reporting Hotline for immediate assistance.
Camp Darby is served by a SAPR victim advocate. Both Army and Air Force can utilize this resource. Army soldiers also have the option of contacting the SHARP 24hr Hotline in Vicenza: +39 0444 71 8540/DSN: 314-646-8540
A credentialed Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Program representative will provide information, referral and immediate advocacy. Speaking to a SHARP representative is confidential and services are available to all Survivors of sexual violence (ages 18 & up) and their friends/loved ones. SHARP can assist with understanding reporting options, support during medical, legal, and law enforcement appointments, safety planning, and non-clinical support. SHARP services are confidential and do not require the Survivor to make a report.
Please note that in Italy, Italian medical personnel are mandatory reporters by law. If you, or someone you know, requires non-emergency medical assistance, please call the Sexual Assault Reporting Hotline at +39-0444-71-8540. A SHARP representative can assist with arranging 24/7 non-emergency medical services for Survivors of sexual violence.
Army Emergency Relief
Army Emergency Relief provides financial assistance to eligible Soldiers and their dependents. AER can help with emergency financial needs for food, rent, utilities, emergency transportation and vehicle repair, funeral expenses and medical/dental expenses. If pay is delayed or stolen, assistance may be provided for health and welfare items. Assistance is in the form of an interest-free loan, grant, or part loan and part grant. To receive AER assistance, first see your unit leadership then contact Army Community Service (DSN 314-645-8232 or +39 050-965-8232). Or Active-Duty Soldiers, Retired Soldiers, and Survivors can apply directly and receive an immediate eligibility decision.
The system will walk users through eligibility, account setup, and submitting their request. For time-sensitive Emergency Travel assistance (travel within 12 hours), or help using the portal, contact:soldierportalhelp@aerhq.org
Air Force Aid Society provides similar services and utilizes similar requirements as mentioned above. Camp Darby Airmen should contact Air Force Aid Society at DSN 314-632-5407 or +39 0434-30-5407 for assistance.
