Deployment Support Overview

Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.

Mobilization, Deployment and Support Stability Operations (MD&SSO)

Coordinates and conducts pre-deployment AND REDEPLOYMENT briefings on request by command
Conducts Command and Rear Detachment SFRG trainings
Conducts SOLDIER & Family Readiness Group trainings
Operates and manages the Emergency Family Assistance Center, when activated
Provides support AND REFERRALS to waiting spouses
Provides assistance to SOLDIER & Family Readiness Groups
Keeps commanders abreast of major problems affecting families of mobilized or deployed soldiers and civilians
Serves as AN AFFILIATE member of the Casualty Assistance working group
Coordinates with Rear Detachment commanders and SOLDIER & Family Readiness Groups during deployments in making referrals to other program managers and SFRG leaders
Works as a team with Family Advocacy and New Parent Education and Support programs to provide support to spouses and children during deployments (BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER DEPLOYMENTS)
Maintains daily direct contact with support groups, Senior Spouses and SOLDIER & Family Readiness Support assistants
Updates information through coordination of Senior Spouses and SFRG leaders meetings
Works with command to receive and welcome soldiers returning from deployment
Supports unit and family readiness BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER separations, deployments and emergencies
Provides units with deployment cycle support by providing resource referrals during pre- and post-deployment support, and assists commanders with their SFRG plans
Support also includes the Emergency Family Assistance Center, Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and Assessment System and Noncombatant Evacuation/Repatriation
