The goal of the Relocation Readiness Program here at U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart is to ensure that support and assistance is available for inbound and outbound service members and civilians, as well as their family members. Installation Specific Information
The Army Community Service RRP provides information to unit sponsors, who will further customize the packet with unit information and official welcome letters. It is the mission of ACS to ensure that service members, civilians and family members are prepared to cope with the problems and stress they may encounter throughout the tour cycle of their mobile lifestyle. ACS provides guidance with the relocation process, whether inbound or outbound.
The following are services offered by the ACS in Stuttgart:
Host Nation Orientation Class – Every other week a HNO class is offered half day from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Valued information is given out about Stuttgart area, Germany and German culture.
Host Nation Orientation tour to Stuttgart - Every other week a tour starts from a different installation (Panzer Kaserne, Patch Barracks and Kelley Barracks) to Stuttgart using public transportation. Four “hot spots” will be visited and experienced lunch in a German restaurant.
German Immersion Class – ACS offers this free class on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m.-7 pm.m. This class is a drop-in/drop-out, and our instructor will assess your German ability level.
Lending Closet – This program is available for incoming and outgoing permanent personnel. Essential items available to check out for up to 60 days include two-, four- or six-person dish kits (includes pots and pans), coffee makers, toasters, irons, ironing boards etc. Note that linens, blankets, towels and transformers are not available.
English as a Second Language – A great class for foreign-born spouses who want to brush up on their English or American culture. This class is offered throughout the year at ACS on Panzer Kaserne. Classes are on Tuesdays and students receive three hours of instruction.
Information and Referral – The Information and Referral Program can assist you with questions you may have regarding community services in Stuttgart. If you need more information about on- or off-post services, they're happy to help. I&R is the point of contact for ACS class registrations or information on any ACS classes, as well as your one-stop place for community information.
German Translation Services – Need assistance with German or English translations? ACS can help. We offer free, unofficial translation services (for paying phone and utility bills, information on the local community, scheduling appointments, etc.) Assistance is available Monday-Friday. Customers are asked to schedule an appointment with the translator.
