Cost of living is close to 900 euros a month for living expenses. Compared to other European countries, the cost of living in Germany is quite reasonable. German cost of living is 6.22% lower than in the United States and German rent is 32.74% lower than in the United States as well. However, German car insurance can be expensive.
Although the Post Exchange and commissary usually have basic household items in stock, there are times when items of high demand – such as a particular size in clothing or certain sizes of linen – must be purchased in the economy.
