U.S. Army Garrison-Humphreys has a variety of U.S. government, contract and volunteer positions available. Government jobs are divided into appropriated fund and nonappropriated fund positions. Spouses of active-duty personnel and federal civilian employees have some hiring preference upon arrival for government positions. The job market is continually changing as people relocate into and out of the area, as well as from the growth due to transformation.
When traveling overseas, it is especially important for family members to hand carry employment records and documents. Documents should include at least one copy of your resume, education records (high school diploma and college transcripts), copies of job-specific licenses or certificates, copies of awards and volunteer career portfolio. To be eligible for Military Spouses Preference or Overseas Family Member Preference, you must submit a copy of your marriage license and a copy of your sponsor’s orders with you listed as accompanying the sponsor. Preference is only given in overseas areas after the application has arrived at the installation.
The ACS Employment Readiness Program goal is to provide information and services regarding employment and career assessments to military, civilian and family members. The Employment Readiness Program offers a variety of services to include: workshops covering Resume Writing, Job Market Orientation, Interviewing Techniques, and Dressing for Success. We also provide career counseling, a resource library and have computers available for your use.
The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. The scholarship assists military spouses in pursing licenses, certifications or associate degrees necessary to gain employment in an occupation or career field. Spouses may use their MyCAA scholarship funds at any academic institution approved for participation in the scholarship. For information, please visit MyCAA online.
