A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
The Relocation Assistance Program has an active Loan Closet that provides a loan service of basic household utensils designed to assist active duty, reserve service members, Department of Defense Civilians and their Family members until arrival of their own hold baggage and household goods, or for departing personnel after shipment of goods prior to departure. Standardized kits are issued out for a family size four. A typical kit includes dishes, silverware, glasses, basic cookware, mixing bowls, a baking pan and utensils needed to cook.
Personnel must present a current identification card and a copy of the sponsor's orders. Loan Closet items shall be issued for a period of 30 days. Extensions shall be granted for an additional 30 days if household goods or hold baggage are not yet available. For periods longer than 90 days total, verification of proposed arrival date from the Transportation Office is required. Exceptions are authorized by the Relocation Readiness Manager. In the event of lost or damaged Loan Closet items, the client will be required to replace the item with an equivalent new item in accordance with loaner agreement policy.
