When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.

Dunham U.S. Army Health Clinic, 450 Gibner Road, is a freestanding ambulatory treatment facility that provides primary medical services to authorized beneficiaries. The clinic is staffed and equipped to provide care for routine outpatient medical conditions.

Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-noon. Consult the website or call the patient appointment line to learn of any changes to clinic hours, normally because of holidays and special events on the installation.
DUSAHC opened the Carlisle Barracks Army Wellness Center, Building 315 on Lovell Avenue, in September 2012 to provide health promotion and wellness services tailored for individuals and designed to assist in avoiding development or progression of disease or injury by emphasizing behavior modification leading to lasting change. Services include comprehensive health assessments and individualized, ongoing counseling in physical fitness, nutrition and caloric needs, stress management and tobacco education. Appointments for health assessments can be made through Primary Care Managers, self-referral in person or by calling 717-245-4004.
DUSAHC employs secure electronic resources to allow beneficiaries to communicate with our staff and access our services. TRICARE Online is an appointing system that allows beneficiaries to schedule or cancel routine, follow-up and acute appointments 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In order to take advantage of TOL, each beneficiary must register and create an account using unique identity information. The Army Medicine Secure Messaging Service, provided by Relay Health, allows beneficiaries to communicate securely on such matters as consulting with your physician, requesting an appointment, requesting medication refills, requesting test results and sending general notes to your physician. This system requires initial face-to-face contact with each patient in order to register. The AMSMS is used for routine, not urgent or emergency, communications. Ask a DUSAHC staff member about this exciting and convenient feature.
If you have an emergency (threat to life, limb or sight), call 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room. If you require urgent (not an emergency) care when our clinic is closed, or when traveling out of the area, call the continental United States Nurse Advice Line at 800-TRICARE or800-874-2273, Option 1. You will be evaluated by a registered nurse and directed to the nearest urgent care center or emergency room based on that evaluation.
