When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Do not pack important papers with your household goods or hold baggage. Plan to take the following items with you:
Documents to hand carry:
You must weigh your vehicle empty and then again fully loaded prior to leaving. If you have any questions, you can contact the traffic management office at 302-677-4387/4386 or DSN 312-445-4387/4386 or via email at 436APS.TRTP.PersonalProperty@us.af.mil

Be sure to make temporary lodging reservations well in advance of your arrival to the base. Contact Dover Air Force Base Lodging at the Eagle's Rest Inn by phone at 302-677-2840/2841.
Upon arrival, service members should report to their respective commander's support staff for in-processing. Unit CSS will assist with mandatory appointments including signing the service member up to attend Newcomer's Orientation, which is currently held every second and fourth Thursday of each month at The Landings. Attendees need to be seated no later than 7:30 a.m. to sign in. Spouses and significant others are highly encouraged and welcomed to attend! Service members should go to the Military Personnel Section if they do not have a CSS or they're having problems with their common access card.
If you get married before you make your PCS move, you must inform your commander/first sergeant and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing for your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures. You will need to update your and their information in the DEERS site. Please stop by the Military Processing Section (MPS) for assistance or give them a call at 302-677-3010 to set up an appointment.
