If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Dover AFB Military and families have a variety of options when it comes to taking college courses. Dover AFB hosts two on-base academic institutions; Delaware State University, and Wilmington University. In-person classes are available on base, as well as online options for many degree programs. Please visit the third floor of Building 261 to obtain more information about degree programs, term dates, and admissions to the on-base schools. For other options in the local area, Delaware Technical Community College and University of Delaware are within a commutable distance to the base (but do not offer on-base classes or office hours). Interested students should visit their campus to meet with an advisor.
