If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with a career coach through the War Department’s SpouseWorks (formerly SECO) program. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their education or employment goals. The Goodfellow AFB Consolidated Learning Center (CLC) is the focal point on Goodfellow AFB for all educational information. Assistance and classes are available to prepare individuals for exams such as the Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and college admission tests.
The education center is home to one on-site college.
Park University offers bachelor degree programs in an accelerated curriculum for management, management/computer systems, management/human resources and social psychology. Associate degrees in management and social psychology are offered. Classes are held on base in the Education Center. On-line courses are also available.
There are two local state institutions in the San Angelo area.
Angelo State University (ASU) is a comprehensive college offering undergraduate and graduate programs in liberal and fine arts, sciences, education for the health professions, teacher education, business administration, and courses of study to meet entrance requirements for various professional schools. Active-duty military, their spouse and children are authorized to pay resident tuition.
Howard College, a 2-year community college, offers associate degrees in several fields. Special emphasis is placed on health careers, business, and cosmetology.
