Goodfellow Air Force Base is located within Region 15 in San Angelo, Texas. There is not a Department of Defense Education Activity school located on Goodfellow AFB or in the San Angelo area. Whether your child attends a public, private, charter, or parochial school; the typical school year runs from MID-AUGUST through LATE MAY. The heaviest concentration of military connected students attend campuses within the San Angelo Independent School District – Website: https://www.saisd.org.

Families relocating to Goodfellow: Please notify your child’s current school of your upcoming PCS no later than 45 days out. This will allow the front office, teachers, counselors, specialist to provide an accurate student transfer record.  Two weeks prior to withdrawal, parents should request an unofficial transcript/records with close out grades from the school office. Prior to departing your current location please ensure that you hand carry your Pre-K– 12 military connected students records as well as other pertinent student enrollment documentation. Provide the current front office with the inbound schools phone number, address, fax number and point of contact. Once you arrive and enroll your student, please provide the new school with the outbound schools phone number, address, fax number and point of contact. This will ensure that the withdraw and registration process run seamless!

Typical Items requested for school registration:

• Student's Birth Certificate
• Student's Social Security number (student account/ID #)
• Student's Immunization Record
• Current school year sports physical (if applicable)
• Proof of Residency (Military Orders, TLF statement, housing/apartment contract, utility bill, etc.)
• Guardianship papers (if applicable)
• Most recent report card/school transcript with close out grades (Ensure they are clearly annotated)
• State/Standardized or Special Program Testing
• Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service plan (Most current if applicable)
• 504 Plan (Most current if applicable)
• Gifted and Talented (GT) (Testing, scores, records Transcript/Record Documentation Requirements if applicable)
• Counselor Recommendations for Placement (optional)

Parents with High School Students Please also include:

• Advanced Placement Courses/Dual Credit Courses/Trade School Credits (Ensure they are clearly annotated)
• PSAT/SAT/ACT scores clearly annotated on official transcripts
• CLEP/DANES scores clearly annotated on official transcripts
• Working outside of grade level (i.e. taking 10th grade math but in the 9th grade)
• College Career Readiness: Course History/Schedule/Graduation Track/Work Study
• Military Readiness: JROTC Records (if applicable)
• Listing of Academic Recognitions/Competition/Participation
• Extracurricular highlights, statistics, awards, recognitions, recommendations, letters etc.

Educational opportunities for adults include Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), vocational courses, and undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
