A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
Are your teens (ages 13 to 18) looking for a cool hang-out spot to relax? Interested in joining a club to meet new people? Or how about go on a field trip or lock-in? Then check out the Teen Center today! The Teen Center offers recreational activities and instructional programs in six core areas: the arts, character leadership and development, education and career, health and life skills, sports, fitness and recreation, and technology. Affiliated with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and 4-H, we take advantage of many of their National Programs, offering unique opportunities for our teens.
Activities/clubs are offered throughout the week include Keystone Club, T25 Fitness, Art Club, Community Service Clubs, Cooking and Gardening Clubs, STEM Programs and homework help. Our teen recreation room offers billiards, ping-pong, foosball, video games, movies and music. Special events such as lock-ins, hiking, dances, summer camps, and more!

Youth no longer offers dance, music, martial arts, and art instruction but it is offered through MWR Recreation JBPHH Youth programs offer instructional classes in guitar, piano, music, reading/composition, ballet, dance, Tai Kwon Do and gymnastics. The Missoula Children Theater also offers a theater production once a year at the Makai Community Center for all eligible youths. Missoula is still offered once a year through CYP. JBPHH offers programs and activities for youth year round. Sports, instructional classes, teen clubs, preteen events, school age care, summer school break camps and special events are continuously offered. Partnerships with Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H means that your youth/teen can find the same type of clubs here that they enjoyed at their last base. We are nationally recognized for our creative programming and special events throughout the year: Easter Egg Hunts, Armed Forces Kids Run, and BGCA Day for Kids, Fall Festival, and many more. Check Great Life Hawaii and the monthly magazine for more information about programs offered.
Youth Services and Sponsorship Program
The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam is an active, ongoing program that keeps the military children busy and involved. MWR's youth programs offer everything from a variety of sports to Fitness programs. Pre-teens to teens can take advantage of programs appropriate for their ages by visiting the Great Life Hawaii website.
Youth Sponsorship is a program whose primary function is to ease the transition from other bases to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. Here at the Teen Center we have a number of teens that have volunteered to be sponsors for incoming youth to show them around and be a friend. Boys and Girls Scouting Programs
Hawaii Scouting programs are independently managed and are available within the community. JBPHH Youth Sports, located in building 161, offers a wide array of organized activities year round to include:
The JBPHH Sports program provides opportunities for children to have contact with other youths, volunteer leaders and youth program staff. All youth sports coaches, assistants and volunteers are screened and trained utilizing the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines.
The skateboard hangar, independently managed, is a one-of-a-kind Skateboard Center-the only one of its kind located on Hickam Air Field. It boasts of the largest keyhole bowl ramp on the island. Full safety gear is required for skaters at the park. Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads can be rented out, but bring your own skateboard, roller blades, bikes, in-line skates and scooters. Rental cost for safety gear is very reasonable. Monthly membership passes are available. For more information call 808-448-4422.

STARS Program
SINGERS, THESPIANS, AND RISING STARS! Youth will benefit from these classes in theater production, stage presence and set building. Each session ends with a showcase which incorporates new skills and talent. For more information on the upcoming session, contact the Hawaii Children's Theatre. The Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH) Command Religious Program offers a multitude of programs, opportunities, and care for service members and their families. Four Base Chapel locations on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam serve Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish communities. The mission of the Religious Ministry Team is to inspire hope, strengthen spiritual wellbeing, increase personal resilience and enhance mission readiness through the delivery and coordination of effective religious ministry by providing opportunities for worship, religious education, spiritual development, and counsel on matters of religion, morals, and ethics to the Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Community.
