When planning for a move with the military, you might consider moving into government housing. Government housing is owned and maintained by the Department of Defense and is typically on the installation. Eligibility and availability for this type of housing may vary by service member, family size and installation. Availability
Redstone Arsenal privatized housing which includes ten General Officer Quarters and 352 family housing units for other officers and enlisted personnel. Waiting time varies based on the needs of the tenants. Call for more details. Family housing units include central heat and air conditioning, dishwasher, range and refrigerator. Some units have garages. The one and two-story facilities range from single to multi-plexed units.
Eligibility
All permanent party personnel, accompanied by their families and assigned within the commuting area of Redstone Arsenal, are eligible for family housing. Active Duty Military on orders to Redstone Arsenal have priority on housing. If space is available, Retirees, Department of Defense civilians and Active Duty Military families not assigned to Redstone may request housing on post.
Application Process
Newcomers can be placed on the waiting list for on post housing when they receive their orders. Fax over a copy of the orders to 256-722-8799 and and application packet will be mailed.
