Military spouses of all branches are encouraged to contact Military OneSource. While not a hiring agency, the 24/7 program assists with job-hunting skills such as resume writing, interviewing tips, career goal setting and information about area employers.
The State Employment Office Career Center is located at 2535 Sparkman Drive and can be reached by calling 256-851-0537. The Alabama State Employment Office job link provides information on available jobs in the area. The career center offers job search resources, training programs and, as appropriate, unemployment benefits.
The Transition Assistance Program provides assistance to soldiers who are separating from Active Duty, Department of Defense Civilians involved in a reduction in force, retiring service members and family members. TAP holds sessions at One Stop, Building 3494, Honest John Road each month. Call 256-313-6481 for dates and availability. Pre-separation counseling includes benefits information, job search skills development, career guidance and other tips relevant to a successful transition to civilian life.
