Single soldiers ranks private through sergeant must reside in barracks provided by their unit. Permanent party, single staff sergeants and above and geographical bachelors of all ranks must plan to reside off post. Single service members in pay grades E-7 and above are authorized to live off post and to receive Basic Allowance for Housing at the without dependents rate.
