A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
Child and Youth Services (CYS) activities incorporate four (4) areas: Sports, Fitness and Health, Life skills, Citizenship and leadership opportunities, to include arts, recreation and leisure activities; mentoring, intervention and education support services. Youth Services provides adequate programs to all eligible teens of the Fort Buchanan community.
Youth Center
The Fort Buchanan Youth Center is located in Building 1110. The center offers pool tables, video games, computers and special activities all year round, such as dances, sport events, and special classes. For more information contact the Youth Center at 787 707-3826/3713/3824.
Youth Sponsorship Program
The Teen Council organizes the Teen Sponsorship program. Teens transferring to Fort Buchanan may call the Teen Center at 787 707-3826 or DSN 740-3826.
Youth Employment
A Workforce preparation council training is offered in March for teens. For more information call Youth Services at 787 707-3826 or DSN 740-3826.
Fort Buchanan Schools
At both the middle and high school there are many extra curricular activities, depending on what you like to do. Clubs include: Art , Cheerleading, Computers, Dance, Drama, Environmental, Future Business Leaders of American (FBLA), International/Cultural, Key (Rotary) and Keyette International (community/citizenship), Library Media, Literary Magazine, Math, Students Against Drunk Drivers (SADD), Yearbook and more.
School sports activities include: Cross country, football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, baseball, golf, indoor soccer, softball, tennis or track and field.

Base Amenities/Sports
There are many fun activities available for youth at Fort Buchanan. There is a cool water park on post called The Water Spout as well as an 18 lane Bowling Center. The CYS Sports Program provides team sports: soccer, basketball, Baseball, and individual sports, such as the quarterly fun run. Also fitness and health, nutrition education and health activities are available to active duty dependents and authorized patrons.
