If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. All colleges and universities listed below, except the Inter American University and Phoenix University, conduct classes in Spanish. However, several have stated that they are willing to teach in English if there is enough of a demand in a specific area.
DANTES sponsors a wide range of examination programs that help service members in meeting their educational goals. The major types of examinations available through DANTES include: High School Equivalency, College Admission Examinations, College Credit Examinations, Certification Examinations Guidance Tests and Assistance. National Test Center (NTC)
The National Test Center (NTC) on base offers the a variety of exams for the Military Members (includes Reserve Components and Coast Guard Personnel, Spouses and Civilian Employees of Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Army national Guard, Army Reserve and Coast Guard (Active and Reserve) at no cost.
DoD Acquisition Workforce Personnel(DAU) are only eligible for the following computer-based exams at no cost:
Retiree, Civil Service Employees, spouses and Family Members of other Military Personnel (other than eligible civilian personnel listed above are not funded.
