With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Both Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis offer billeting facilities for our personnel.
Joint Base Langley-Eustis (Langley)
Reservations at the Air Force Inn are still restricted to personnel on official travel orders only (permanent change of station or temporary duty assignment, etc.).
Reservations cannot be made by calling the front desk of Langley Inn or by going online. Outbound members or sponsors of inbound members must request accommodations through their unit's Emergency Operations Center representative or, if unavailable, through the Emergency Support Function-6 representative. Non-availability slips will be provided if the reservation request dates cannot be supported.
Joint Base Langley-Eustis (Fort Eustis)
Fort Eustis' billeting facility, the General Smalls Inn, houses unaccompanied TDY personnel, PCS families and official visitors. There are 235 visiting officers’ quarters, nine distinguished visitors’ quarters and 302 visiting enlisted quarters.
Reservations can be made by calling 757-878-5807/2337 or DSN 312-826-5807/2337, or going online. All personnel should report to Building 2110 on Pershing Avenue for registration. The General Smalls Inn accepts reservations for all military duty personnel in a permanent change of station or temporary duty assignment status, Department of Defense civilians attending conferences and hospital visitors. Reservations are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You may also fax in your reservation with a copy of your orders. Reservation availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-in time is2 p.m.; check-out time is 11 a.m.
Personnel planning to arrive at Langley or Fort Eustis are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible to increase their chances of obtaining temporary quarters. Bring a copy of your orders with you when you arrive. Those who obtain accommodations will be allowed to stay up to 30 days if quarters are available, so we encourage you to make reservations as soon as possible.
Advance Reservations -- PCS reservations can be made six months in advance. TDY schools and training reservations can be made 30 days in advance.

Langley -- Space-available reservations can be made three days prior to the arrival date. All customers PCSing or on TDY have priority over all other customers. Priority one customers can make reservation 30 days in advance.
Fort Eustis -- Space A accommodations for daily space available may be made after 6 p.m.
Availability/Length of Stay
Inbound personnel may be allowed to stay for a period not to exceed 30 days. Outbound personnel may be allowed access to the temporary lodging facilities on a Space A basis only for a period not to exceed 30 days. Stays beyond this are handled on a case-by-case basis.
All rooms must be paid for in advance by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard. Rates are from $70-$87 a day.
IAW AFI 34-246 lodging guests must provide a valid credit card at time of check-in or pay in advance at check-in with cash or check. All guests checking in using a credit card will sign the guest registration form that advises them lodging is authorized to apply any unpaid charges to their credit card.
All guests staying more than 15 days, whether paying by cash, check or credit card, must come back to the front desk at the 15-day mark. Guests using cash or check will pay in advance for their remaining days of occupancy; those paying with a credit card will have their cards processed for charges incurred over the past 15 days.
Langley Inns is located at 70 Nealy Ave. just inside the LaSalle gate, which is considered the main gate.
General Smalls Inn is located at 1700 Madison Ave.
All guests arriving after 6 p.m. must guarantee their reservations with a valid credit card. It is the guest's responsibility to ensure a valid credit card is given to hold the room after 6 p.m. Guests will be charged a no-show fee if reservations are not canceled by midnight on the expected arrival date.
Langley Inns offers pet-friendly TLFs. In addition to the regular TLF rate, guests with pets will be charged an additional $10 per night. The standard is two pets (dogs and cats) per unit. Make arrangements as soon as possible as there are only 16 units available. Guests must provide a valid copy of the pets' shot records at check-in. If you are unable to secure a pet-friendly room, Langley Inn has a list of nearby kennels. Non-availability slips will not be given when regular TLF units are available.
Fort Eustis’ General Smalls Inn offers pet-friendly rooms. Kennel facilities are not available on post.
All rooms are provided with a television, telephones, and refrigerators. All TLF rooms are equipped with a small kitchen facility and dining area. Each facility has free washers and dryers.
JBLE Lodging Rates

Langley is located in the city of Hampton on the Virginia Peninsula. The community surrounding the base is known as Hampton Roads.
Traveling Southeast from Richmond on Interstate 64 -- If you are traveling southeast from Richmond on Interstate 64 East to Langley, merge onto US-258 (Mercury Boulevard) via exit 263B and travel 2.1 miles. From the right lane, merge onto VA 167 East (LaSalle Avenue) and the base gate will be straight ahead.
Traveling Northeast from the James River Bridge -- If you are traveling northeast from the James River Bridge via U.S. Route 17/258, take West Mercury Boulevard to LaSalle Avenue.
Traveling North from Norfolk -- If traveling north from Norfolk, take I-64 West through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel to Exit 265B and turn right onto LaSalle Ave.
Traveling to Hampton from Emporia (I-95) -- If you are approaching Hampton traveling from Emporia (I-95), take US-58 E for about 66 miles. Merge onto I-64 East/Hampton Roads via Exit 1B toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach. Shortly thereafter, take Exit 265C toward Langley Air Force Base. Turn right onto Rip Rap Road then take a slight right onto Armistead Avenue, and another short right onto LaSalle Avenue.
Traveling South on Hwy 17 -- If you are traveling south on Hwy 17, continue until you reach I-64. Take the interstate east until you exit at Armistead Avenue (north) and then to LaSalle Avenue.

From Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport or from Norfolk International Airport, take I-64 west to Exit 250A Fort Eustis Boulevard (Route 105). Proceed on Fort Eustis Boulevard west until you will come to the main gate. From the main gate, you will be on Washington Avenue. Make the first left onto Madison Avenue, across the median. Proceed down Madison and General Smalls Inn is on your left. If there are no rooms available when you call the General Smalls Inn, they can provide a list of hotels that participate through a memorandum of agreement. Call the General Smalls Inn for more details.
Directions from I-95 and points west (Richmond), take I-64 East to Exit 250A, Fort Eustis Boulevard (Route 105) and proceed west about a mile and you will enter Fort Eustis.
From south on Hwy 17, continue until you reach Fort Eustis Boulevard. This will lead you directly into Fort Eustis.
Cribs are available on a first come first serve basis. Please inform the reservation clerk if these items are needed when making reservation.
Handicapped Accessible Rooms
The General Smalls Inn has eight rooms that are configured for disabled persons.A flat fee of $5.00 per day is added to the room rate for additional occupants.
Free Laundry Facilities: A laundry room is located on each floor, and a coin operated laundry on the first floor, in addition to the Post coin operated laundry.
All suites include living room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms, furnished with a telephone, television, internet access capabilities, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, and queen size bed.
Double occupancy rooms furnished with a telephone, television, DVD player, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, queen size bed.
Extended Stay Room
All rooms are furnished with a telephone, television, DVD player, high speed internet access capabilities, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, single bath, queen size bed.
Lost and Found
If you notice you have forgotten some personal belongings after departure, you may contact the Lost and Found office at 757-878-1379 or DSN 312-927-1379. If the item is found, and you request to have the item mailed, postal charges will be assessed to you.
This is a tobacco free facility.
The General Smalls Inn will not accept personal guest mail. Guests are encouraged to contact the Fort Eustis Post Office at 878-2418 or the company that you are attached to while you are here to inquire about a general delivery or mail box.
