It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
Contact the Langley Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) or the Fort Eustis Army Community Service (ACS) for employment assistance regarding job opportunities on the installation and in the local community. The M&FRC and ACS provide resume assistance, employment resources, internet access and resource libraries. Classes are provided to assist with resumes and the federal job search. Individual appointments are available to assess needs, develop strategies and provide resources and referrals.

Military spouses should be sure to ask about spouse preference for federal positions.

Military Spouse Career Accelerator Pilot (MSCAP)
Military Spouse Career Accelerator Pilot (MSCAP), a competitive multi-year program that provides spouses with paid 12-week fellowships at employers across various industries and locations.
Who is eligible? -Eligible military spouses of currently serving members of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Space Force, to include active, reserve and National Guard components.

Remember to either have digital copies available or hand carry all of your employment records, resumes, DD214, SF 50, latest performance appraisal, marriage certificate, PCS orders (mil spouses), transcripts, certificates and licenses as you relocate so that you can begin the job search process as soon as possible.
My Career Advancement Account
The military spouse My Career Advancement Account program – MyCAA, which is implemented by the Department of Defense, provides resources and assistance to spouses of active-duty services members, guard and reserve in pay grades E1-E5, W1-W2, and O1-O2, with a spouse on orders for one year, supporting their pursuit of a successful, long-term, portable career. This centralized, virtual program is accessed through Military OneSource counseling and funding, to assist with licensure, certification or education opportunities leading to portable employment opportunities.
To get started, spouses can verify eligibility and register for a MyCAA account at https://mycaa.militaryonesource.mil/mycaa/After registration, spouses will then work with a certified Spouse Education and Career Opportunities career coach on a MyCAA Education and Training Plan. This plan will be reviewed as part of the application process for the MyCAA scholarship, and when approved, the spouse can then receive financial assistance.

A need-based scholarship program established to assist Army spouses in obtaining an undergraduate degree or similar professional certification. Applicants may receive assistance for up to four academic years of full-time study or eight academic years of part-time study. Applicants must re-apply each year. Spouses may apply year-round.

If you are considering applying for unemployment benefits, contact your losing state's unemployment benefits representative or your unemployment commission at your home of record for the appropriate paperwork. When you resign your position, include a statement to the effect that you are resigning to accompany your military spouse on his/her Permanent Change of Station.
