“Excellent Career Prospects”
Defense contracted positions, teaching, nursing, minimum wage services, insurance and construction jobs are often available. Most sales and restaurant work is part-time. Experienced computer and clerical workers are in demand.
Fair Prospects
Competitive positions in business exist. Positions in correctional facilities and customer service call centers are steadily increasing.

For nonappropriated funds Jobs, visit the NAF website, NAF Jobs. You can search for jobs by city or state and also post your resume. Vacancies will link you automatically to the respective federal agency site so you can print off the duties and qualification portion of the position.

The Military Spouse Employment Program is available for active-duty military or retired members’ spouses to assist family members with finding employment.
Unemployment Compensation
Unemployment compensation may be available for the spouse of a newly assigned military member or civilian employee. For more information, contact the Colorado Department of Labor and Workforce.

Have the following information when you file or make your call:
• Your Social Security number• Alien permit number if not a citizen• Last employer’s name, address and date employed• If you worked outside of Colorado, you need names, addresses and dates employed for all employers you worked for during the past 18 months.• If you were in the military or worked for the federal government, please have such forms as Directives Division Form- 214, Standard Form-8 and Standard Form-50.

Relicensure Information
In an effort to ease the burden of PCSing/permanent change of assignmenting, the Air Force is reimbursing up to $500 for airmen’s spouses’ occupational state relicensing and recertification costs incurred due to a qualifying PCS/PCA. Transition Assistance Program
The Transition Assistance Program provides pre-separation counseling (mandatory for military members), employment workshops and the Transition Assistance Program seminar to military members and Department of Defense civilians who are looking at retiring/separating.
Colorado Springs is known for its strong defense industry and military presence. Although defense is drawing down, none of the military installations are being considered for closure. Strength in private sector transportation, communications, technical professions and retail and services is developing as companies expand and relocate to the area.

We encourage Active Duty Service Members who are re-enlisting, seperation or retiring to attend early, go oftern and suceed - at least 18 months from date of separation.
