If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Planning for Emergencies
**Emergency Contact at U.S. Airport
There are no DoD assistance counters at Narita or Haneda airports. If an emergency occurs after you arrive at the airport in Japan, contact your unit sponsor for assistance. If you need help contacting your unit, please call the Camp Zama Staff Duty NCO at 090-3579-6967 or DSN 315-263-5302.
**Camp Zama American Red Cross: During emergencies, the American Red Cross can assist with emergency communication messages and financial assistance. Evacuation Program
Within 30 days of arrival to Japan all personnel (except unaccompanied service members or unaccompanied Emergency Essential Civilian Employees) are required to have a complete Evacuation packet in case of an evacuation. Each unit or organization has an Evacuation Program warden who is trained and resourced to help you complete your packet.
Mass Warning and Notification System
The ALERT! system an emergency notification tool and enrollment is a requirement for all service members and Department of the Army civilians (APF and NAF) with 30 days of arrival. Each unit / organazation has a representative that give instructions and guidance on the enrollement process.

Assistance can be provided as an interest-free loan, a grant or part loan and part grant. If the soldier is away, a spouse can get help but must have a power of attorney, military ID card and substantiating documents.
