With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
The Zama Lodge has 91 beautiful rooms in three separate buildings. Rates are based on the maximum per diem rate each month for Camp Zama. This can be found in the Defense Travel Management Office website. When making reservations, tell us your preferences and we will do our best to accommodate you. When guest volume limits availability, we may not be able to match your room type preference. Zama Army Lodging is a nonsmoking establishment.
Each room in Zama Army Lodging is conveniently stocked with a microwave, a refrigerator, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, a telephone, a television, a coffee maker and Wi-Fi for internet connectivity. Each room includes some essential amenities provided for your first night's stay. A free continental breakfast is offered daily at the main building.
To make reservations, please notify your sponsor or call 011-81-46-407-3830 or DSN 315-263-3830. A credit card is needed to secure your reservation.
Eligibility/Orders
Authorized soldiers and official Department of Defense travelers on orders may make reservations. Permanent change of station inbound can reserve a room up to one (1) year in advance and temporary duty (TDY) assignment reservations are accepted up to 90 days in advance, based on availability. It is highly encouraged that TDY travelers use the DTS system for reservations.
Official travelers must present a copy of their orders during check-in. Eligible unofficial travelers can reserve rooms 48 hours in advance. When there are no rooms available, listings to neighboring bases or off-post Japanese hotels can be provided.
It is expected that your sponsor will coordinate with you regarding your temporary lodging requirements well in advance of your arrival.
Availability, Costs, Registration
Check-in is after 3 p.m. Reservations are held beyond 6 p.m. only if guaranteed by a credit card. Any non-guaranteed reservation will be canceled at 6 p.m. If the guest fails to cancel a guaranteed reservation by 6 p.m., the guest will be charged for one night's lodging. Be aware that when traveling over the International Dateline, your arrival time may be pushed into the next day. Check-out time is 11 a.m. Late checkouts are subject to additional charges.
If you are traveling with children and will arrive before check-in time, you or your sponsor may request reservations for the day before. This will allow your family to go directly into your room upon arrival. To guarantee an early check-in, you must reserve the room from the night before.
Prices change monthly in accordance with the MAX Per Diem rate. Children under 18 years of age and pets are not allowed in our one-bedroom suite rooms. One bedroom suite rooms are available for TDY travelers and should not exceed seven (7) days.
If a room is not available for an official traveler 10 days prior to arrival, a Certificate of Non-Availability will be issued at the time the guest is making a reservation.
Length of Stay
Military personnel and civilians must report to the housing office within two working days of arrival to the installation. The Housing Office will determine the length of stay needed before quarters are provided. Stays of longer than 10 days must be approved by the Housing Office. The maximum stay for unofficial travelers is 14 days within a 40-day period. PCS inbound initial reservations are made for 30 days. Weekly extensions after the initial 30 days are granted based on availability.
Location
The front desk and administration offices are located in Building 552 on Camp Zama.
Pets
Zama Army Lodging has limited pet-friendly rooms available. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, based on inbound PCS guests. There is a nonrefundable cleaning fee of $50 and a daily pet fee of $10 per pet. Pets are limited to dogs and cats. A maximum of two animals are allowed in a room; all additional pets will need to have arrangements made at the Camp Zama Kennels. To make kennel reservations, call 011-81-46-407-5915 or DSN 315-263-5915.
The sponsor will make lodging reservations on behalf of the newcomers ahead of time. Currently, there is a short waiting period for quarters, so newcomers will transition straight from lodging into quarters.
