If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
The American Red Cross is readily available whether it be for emergency financial assistance through Army Emergency Relief, to verify a family medical emergency, or deliver a birth notification. Contact the 1-877-272-7337, the 24-hour emergency phone for the Armed Forces Emergency line.
The Fort Riley American Red Cross office provides coordination of the American Red Cross volunteer programs on the installation, information and referral services including information about the local American Red Cross blood drives, health and safety courses, disaster assistance and emergency communication.
The American Red cross Service Center at Fort Riley mission is to provide humanitarian support to service members, veterans and their families around the clock, around the globe, under the same trusted symbol.

Army Emergency Relief is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization and is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own."
Army Emergency Relief provides commanders a valuable asset in accomplishing their basic command responsibility for the morale and welfare of soldiers.
Army Emergency Relief funds are made available to commanders having Army Emergency Relief sections to provide emergency financial assistance to soldiers - active and retired as well as their widows(ers) and their eligible family members when there is a valid financial emergency.
Procedures for applying for Army Emergency Relief Assistance:
After you have completed the DA 1103, Application for Army Emergency Relief (AER) Financial Assistance, you must obtain your unit commander's signature. At that time, your commander will recommend approval/disapproval of the request, and indicate whether or not you have been/are being considered for elimination from the military.
Once the application has been reviewed and signed by the commander, bring it to the Army Emergency Relief office for processing.
Repayment of Army Emergency Relief loans is processed through allotments. Army Emergency Relief's Headquarters identifies your allotment with the Defense Finance Accounting System (DFAS). The Defense Finance Accounting System will start and stop your Army Emergency Relief allotment. If for any reason you desire information regarding your loan you must visit your local Army Emergency Relief office. No information regarding your loan may be released telephonically.
Army Emergency Relief is located in the Army Community Service facility. Services are available Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or call (785) 239-9435.
Emergencies and Important Documents
No matter how well you’ve planned, emergencies do happen. If an emergency situation occurs during the PCS (car broke down, fund shortage), there are military affiliated programs available to assist service members such as Army Emergency Relief (AER). This program has been established to provide interest-free financial assistance to service members in emergency situations. If you experience a hardship during your move contact The Fort Riley Army Community Service (ACS) office at (785) 239-9435. The office is located at 7264 Normandy Drive Fort Riley, KS 66442.

For information regarding the Visitor Center or gaining access to Fort Riley you can call (785) 239-2982. For all vehicle accidents or emergency situations you may call (785) 239-6767 or 911.
Also, it is highly recommended that you keep all important documents on hand in case of an emergency while traveling. Important documents may include, but are not limited to: Military IDs, Driver’s License, Passports, Orders, vehicle documentation, financial information, and legal documents such as marriage certificates, wills, power of attorney, school or employment records, and medical information.

For military families impacted by a natural disaster at Fort Riley or within the Flint Hills Region (example tornado or flood) may contact the Fort Riley Family Assistance Center (FAC) which is located at 7264 Normandy Avenue, or call 1-855-238-3348 or 785-239-9435. FAC can provide AER Loan Processing, Financial Counseling, Loan Closet, Housing Assistance, and SJA Claims guidance. There is a monthly test of the emergency notification loud speaker with a siren and warning announcement it takes place the last Friday of the month at 12:00 noon, so do not be alarmed if you are new to Fort Riley and hear the test.
