When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Locations for check-in vary according to the command to which you are assigned. Check with your sponsor, read your orders or call the quarterdeck for specific information (review the Major Unit listing tab for your command phone number).
If your command is currently deployed, you will check in with the Transient Personnel Detachment, or TPD, located in Building 880 (corner of Enterprise Ave and Franklin Ave), during normal working hours (Mon. - Fri.: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.) they can be reached at 559-998-2015
After normal working hours, call the Naval Air Station Lemoore Command Duty Officer (CDO) at 559-707-0001 and report to the Hornet Desk at the Navy Gateway Inn & Suites, Building 800 Bon Homme Richard. The phone number is 559-998-4609. Both the CDO and the Navy Gateway Inn & Suites will need to stamp your orders.
Ensure that you have submitted the proper leave request prior to taking house-hunting leave. Check with your command via your sponsor.
During a Permanent Change of Station move, or PCS, individuals should carry important paperwork with them (do not pack it with household goods) to decrease the potential for loss or identity theft. Examples would include:
· The service member's service record: from Command, Medical, & Dental
· PCS Orders (Hard Copy Orders)
· Travel documentation
· Travel receipts
· A copy of the "Page 2" dependency application/record of emergency data or proof of dependents
· Any copies of family member medical records
· Military ID cards
· Powers of Attorney
· Marriage certificates
· Birth Certificates
· Immunization records of children
· Immunization records of pets
· Household goods inventory list
· Credit card statements
· Tax records
· Social security cards
· Bank information
· Mortgages
· Vehicle information
· Drivers' licenses
· Bills
· Address book with information for the command sponsor.
Original family medical records are typically shipped from the current Military Treatment Facility (MTF) to the new servicing MTF, verify before departure or ask for a copy of your records. Family members traveling separately from the service member should maintain a copy of the service member's DEERS "Page 2" Dependency Application/Record of Emergency Data and may also need a power of attorney.
When receipts and travel documents are submitted to the command or any military agency, the member or family should maintain a copy for their own records.
Temporary Lodging Reservations
Service members are strongly encouraged to ask their detaching or gaining command (personnel office) about Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE), which can offset the cost of temporary housing at the losing or gaining duty station. The current TLE entitles those traveling on PCS orders up to 10 days lodging at the Navy Lodge at area installations.
The Navy Lodge Lemoore at Naval Air Station Lemoore has standard rooms with queen size beds and a full kitchenette and family suites. The Navy Lodge also has ADA compliant rooms, a daily continental breakfast from 6:00am to 9:00am. The Navy Lodge Lemoore allows pets up to 70lbs (breed restrictions based on installation policy) and requires a current shot record and crate for each pet. There is a non-refundable fee, based on length of stay.
Service members are encouraged to make reservations as early as possible. The Navy Lodge Lemoore accepts reservations up to one year in advance with PCS orders. The phone number is 559-998-5791, 800-NAVY-INN or website www.navy-lodge.com. In the event that there is no availability or appropriate accommodations, the Navy Lodge will issue a certificate of non-availability, or CNA, in order to receive reimbursement for non-government lodging in nearby Lemoore or Hanford.
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your command and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. Travel entitlements for relocating your spouse depend on the effective date of orders and date of marriage.
Contact the Household Goods Office at 855-444-6683 and Personnel Support Detachment at 559-998-4012 to inquire.
You may also contact Fleet and Family Support Center's Relocation Specialist at 559-998-4042 before you move your dependents, otherwise you run the risk of not receiving travel reimbursement for your spouse and dependents.
A Command Sponsor is someone from your new command who is assigned to assist you with settling into your new location. A sponsor is usually assigned through your gaining unit.
A sponsor's duties include:
Command sponsors provide invaluable information to incoming personnel and their families.
