Child and Youth Program Overview
Child and Youth Programs provide Child Development and recreational services for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Child Development Center provides full and part day care for children 6 weeks to Kindergarten. The School Age Center provides before and after-school care and Day Camp experiences. Family Child Care Children, infants to 12 years of age, may receive care in the private home of a certified family childcare provider living in government-owned or government-leased housing on or off the installation. FCC providers typically offer a flexible schedule to support parents with a variety of care needs, including full-day, part-day care, school year care, summer camp, and in some cases, 24/7 and extended care.
Youth Programs for ages 5 to 18 years are provided in military youth and teen program facilities worldwide. A wide variety of offerings includes activities in health and wellness, sports and recreation, the arts, education, and career development, as well as leadership and service programs. In collaboration with other youth-serving organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and USDA 4-H programs.
Childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years; NAEYC accredited. This is a facility-based program that provides childcare services for infants through preschool-age children. This program provides full-day care. 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.Weekends & Holidays: Closed.
School-age care programs provide care to children in kindergarten through seventh grade. (K-7th) and is offered before school, after school, and during non-school days (e.g. spring break and teacher workdays) and summer vacations. All programs are certified by the DOD and accredited the national Council on Accreditation.

The Child Development Center program is led by qualified professionals in Early Childhood Education, whose major goal is to promote your child's growth and development in a nurturing environment through meaningful learning experiences. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate, keeping in mind the specific needs of each individual child. Activities are planned, however these plans are flexible depending on the daily interests and needs of the children. Children are invited and encouraged to participate in individual and group activities designed to promote social, emotional, intellectual (cognitive), and physical development. The Naval Submarine Base New London is certified by the Department of Defense and is regulated by the Navy as well as accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The New London CDCs are located off base on 7 highland Ave. in Buildings 186, 386 and 383 registration and can be reached at 860-448-6838.
Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed Saturday, Sunday and all Federal Holidays.
Programs Offered: Full-time, and hourly ($8 per hour) child care services are available. Hourly care is offered when space is available at a fee reasonable fee.
Costs: Fees are due on the 1st and 15th of each month and range between $121 - $485 depending on total family income. Contractors fees range from $737 depending on total family income. A 20% discount is offered for the eldest child when two or more children are enrolled for care. Hourly rate is $8 per hour for each child. Late charges are $15 per 15 minutes or any fraction thereof. NOTE: fees are subsidize , and will go according to your income.

Eligibility and Priority of Care
There are two levels of Priority of care:
Waiting List The CSC currently has a waiting list however, it is dependent upon the age of the child. For up to date information on the waiting list call 860-448-6838.
The Child Development Homes CDH program is an alternative, providing a warm, family setting in which children can participate in developmentally appropriate learning activities to build a trusting relationship with a provider who will foster their curiosity and creativity, providing guidance and Care for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. NOTE: each individual CDH provider sets hours.
Child Development Home Providers are Certified and State Licensed, through the Child and Youth Programs certification process consisting of Basic First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, Child Development, Activity Planning, Nutrition, Business Practices and Parent/Customer Relations. In addition to the provider's certification, they receive monthly-unannounced home inspections by the Child and Youth Program Director and must successfully complete all required background screenings. Providers are also required to complete monthly training to ensure they provide the best possible care to your children. Call for availability and location at 860-448-6838.

The SAC Program provides quality care for children in a safe and supportive environment. SAC offers educational and recreational activities designed to provide children with opportunities for growth in mind and body, self-discovery, life skills and community involvement. SAC is accredited by the National After school Association since 2002 and is a member of the Boys and Girls Club of America.
