Where to stay when trying to find a permanent place to live is always a major question for anyone facing a PCS.

**Important Check-in information**before arranging any temporary lodging, please check into NGIS.  Service Members, regardless of marital status, must ensure they receive either an endorsement of their orders or a Certificate of Non-Availability (CNA) from NGIS.  The endorsement or CNA, along with lodging receipts, must be submitted to Personnel Support Detachment for reimbursement of temporary lodging expenses (TLE) on your travel claim.  Failure to provide these documents may hinder your entitlement to reimbursement.

Welcome to Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) on Naval Submarine Base (NSB) New London.  Our facility is located on the east side of the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut.  Easily accessible from Interstate 95, we are within an hour’s drive from two major airports. Each private room has its own bath and kitchen facility. Cable TV/DVD, phone clock radio, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, micro fridge and hair dryer are the norm at this installation. • Driving Directions: From Providence airport, take I-95 South to Exit 86, turn right onto Route 12, turn left on Crystal Lake Road, and follow signs to main gate.

Directions from Main Gate: Enter the Base through the main gate.  Proceed on Grayling Avenue and make a right onto Tang Avenue.  Follow Tang past Navy Exchange gas station.  Follow Tang to Tautog Avenue.  Make the first right on Tautog into parking lot at O'Kane Hall Bldg. 429.  O'Kane Hall is also the home of the NSB New London branch of NFCU, and the Officer's club "The Dive" and Chief's Club "The Fouled Anchor."

Navy Lodge New London: The Navy Lodge is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Each unit can support a family of five and arrangements for two units, side-by-side may be made. Each unit is equipped with a kitchenette, which includes a two-burner stove and all kitchen essentials. First priority is for Navy and Marine Corps personnel with families arriving or departing on PCS orders. If traveling with a pet, try to make reservations for lodging as early as possible. Pets are allowed at the Navy Lodge, but there are only a few rooms that are reserved for pets. Some of the hotels and motels do not accept pets. You are entitled to Military Family Housing if you are active-duty and have authorized dependents residing with you. All units are assigned to comply with the bedroom criteria published in housing instructions; however, there may be a waiting list for family housing, depending on family composition. The wait times vary, so call the Housing Welcome Center for updated information.

Our campground is part of our 12+ acre property, which is home to The Sandbox Indoor Beach Sports and Events Center. The property has very primitive camping areas out back, though we are currently developing them for better access and usability. Throwing a tent up in the grass out back near the woods is super simple, and RV or car camping within our parking lot is available now!

Hiking and mountain biking trails are accessible directly from our property. A combination of state-owned and privately owned adjoining properties offer 1,000s of acres for you to explore and enjoy on foot or on your mountain bike. We’re only a few minutes off of I-95. You'll be close to local beaches, downtown Mystic, a bunch of wineries or whatever floats your boat. located in southeastern Connecticut. It's a really accessible.
