Privatization: Naval Submarine Base New London Housing was privatized in November 2004 with Beacon Point Homes Communities now operating as the managing partner.

Register on the Housing Early Application Tool for housing information and to apply. A housing counselor will contact you to answer questions and help you begin the application process. An application package consists of the following documents: A copy of your current Record of Emergency Data (NAVPERS 1070/602, DD Form 93 or CG-4107A) which lists your legal dependents.

Navy Housing developed the Housing Early Assistance Tool to assist service members and their families in obtaining housing information Navy wide. HEAT allows SVMs, DoW sponsored civilians, and their families to get the housing process started online at one or more Navy installations before or after they receive their Permanent Change of Station orders. HEAT is available to any SVM at all Navy installations. More information is available on the Homes.mil website.

HEAT creates an easy user experience to connect with your destination. Spouses can use the tool as well, needing only minimal information about their SVM.

Application and Eligibility: Procedure for Advanced Housing Application

• Register on the Housing Early Assistance Tool for housing information and to apply. A housing counselor will contact you to answer questions and help you begin the application process.
• An application package consists of: Housing Application DD 1746, Sex Offender Disclosure form, Courtesy Move Entitlement form, a copy of the permanent change of station order and a copy of your current Record of Emergency Data (NAVPERS 1070/602, DD Form 93 or CG-4107A), which lists your legal dependents.
• Housing Application The DD 1746, SOD and CME documents may be found at the Applying For Housing section of the Naval Submarine Base New London website.
• You may fax, email or mail the above to the Housing Service Center once orders are received. The HSC will review your package, qualify you for your bedroom entitlement and place you on the appropriate waitlist. You will receive notification via phone or email that your package was received and which waitlist you are on. You will also receive notification once your package has been referred over to the public private venture partner.
• You must check in with the HSC within 30 days of the report date on your orders in order to obtain your detachment date as your control date. Failure to go to the HSC within the 30-day timeframe will result in your control date becoming the date you walk into the office. If you were in government quarters after your detachment date, your control date for housing at Naval Submarine New London will remain the date you detached provided you checked in with the HSC within 30 days of the report date on your orders.
• Fax, email or mail any changes or modifications to your orders or family composition as soon as possible.

Eligibility: You are entitled to Military Family Housing if you are active-duty and have authorized dependents residing with you. All units are assigned to comply with the bedroom criteria published in housing instructions.

Availability: There may be a waiting list for family housing, depending on family composition. The wait times vary, so call the Housing Welcome Center for updated information.

HOMES.mil: HOMES.mil is a DoW website that enables Service members and their families to search online for community housing at virtually every US military installation. Listings on HOMES.mil are managed by the Navy HSC.

At Naval Submarine Base New London, single and unaccompanied Sailor housing is split between government-operated barracks and public-private venture (PPV) units managed via the Unaccompanied Housing office.

Unaccompanied Housing Office: Located at Building 429, Tautog Avenue Groton, CT 06349.

• Combined Bachelor Quarters Front Desk: Call 860-694-3416. Use this line if you arrive after normal hours to have your orders stamped, or if you need 24-hour guidance on where to check in.

Housing Eligibility & Rules:

• E1 to E3 & E4  under four Years Service: Mandated to live on base in Unaccompanied Housing.
• E4 above four Years Service: Authorized to live off base in the local community and receive Basic Allowance for Housing.
• E5 and Above: No permanent barracks housing is available on base; you must reside off base.
• Geographical Bachelors: Must submit an application packet to the  review board, a 7 to 10 days process for approval.
• Student Quarters: The Naval Submarine School provides 725 rooms across three specific buildings for students E6 and below.

Room Features:

Layout: Market-style units, two private bedrooms sharing a common entryway, bathroom, and kitchenette.

• Furnishings: Rooms include a bed, desk, chair, closet space, and a TV/DVD player combination.
• Kitchenette: Equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave.
• Amenities: Free laundry facilities, vending machines, and recreational lounges.
• Policies: All buildings are strictly smoke-free, with designated outdoor smoking areas
