Schriever SFB

Schriever is a growing base that offers many services; any additional services needed are provided by Peterson SFB, a full service base ten miles down the road.

The Schriever SFB commercial prefix is 567, and the DSN prefix is 560. The Colorado Springs area code is 719.

Passports and Visas

Ensure member and dependents (if applicable) have the required passports and/or visa prior to final out-processing. Members are not allowed to final out-process without the required passports/visas in their possession for themselves and their dependents (if applicable).

Environmental Considerations

• Schriever SFB is located about 10 miles east from the edge of the city of Colorado Springs. Highway 94 is the main road out to Schriever. During the morning commuting hours, the sunrise is directly on the horizon over the road. Visibility becomes very difficult during these times. Drive with care on and around Schriever.
• In the Fall/Winter/Spring months, Schriever periodically experiences extreme winter weather that at times results in delayed reporting or “mission essential only” reporting. Be attentive to local news stations for weather and road conditions. Also, Space Base Delta 1 has a Snow Call Line, 719-556-7669 (SNOW), that gives reporting information and it has a Facebook page that posts snow call procedures during inclement weather.
• In the Spring and Summer months, area thunderstorms produce damaging hail and winds. Be weather aware in order to keep you and your belongings safe.

Defense Service Network (DSN) Dialing Instructions

The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense (DoD). Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is unnecessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included.
