If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. The Force Development Flight offers several personal and professional development courses for all Airmen, Guardians, Joint, and Civilians looking to improve their leadership and supervisory skills. The First Term Enlisted Course (FTEC) sets the mission foundations for members arriving to their first duty station. The Professional Enhancement Seminars/Enlisted Airmanship Continuum Foundations courses, and many more, all provide varying levels of information, resources, and tools designed to support career progression.
Additionally, they provide education counseling, briefings on GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, and the Skillbridge program. Formal Training, Civilian Training, and Military testing are all provided by the Force Development Flight.
On-base schools include Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). There are a number of other colleges in the area including Pikes Peak State College, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and Colorado State University Pueblo. There are also a number of local private colleges.
