With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Billeting is not available on Schriever Air Force Base. The Peterson Pikes Peak Lodge is the nearest temporary lodging office and is the first point of contact for most people arriving on temporary duty or permanent change of station. Lodging has 67 temporary lodging units that primarily serve families who are PCSing to Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB and the Cheyenne Mountain Air Station. All TLF units are fully equipped with kitchens and provide sleeping arrangements for four to six people depending on the size of the unit. There are 84 visiting officers quarters, 70 visiting airmen quarters, six distinguished visitors quarters and six senior non-commissioned officers suites. All TLF units are non-smoking.
Newcomers are limited to a 30-day stay and then can stay additional days on a Space-Available basis. Pets are allowed in the TLF but limited to only eight designated units. Only those dog breeds that are authorized in base housing are authorized to stay in TLF. There are several kennels located a short distance from the base. Hotel and motel availability may be scarce during the summer due to the large number of tourists who visit the area, so plan ahead and make reservations.
See https://www.21fss.com/about/pikes-peak-lodge/ for more information or to make reservations at Pikes Peak Lodge.
The cost of lodging will be issued when making a firm reservation and a confirmation number will be provided. Some visiting airmen and guardian quarters are room-bath-room configured and will be assigned to grades E-6 and below.
There are limited Temporary Lodging Facility units that allow pets; only eight rooms are pet friendly. When making your initial arrangements and/or reservations, ask about pet-friendly room availability.
Newcomers are limited to a 30-day stay at a Temporary Lodging Facility. Extended stays are considered new reservations and can be approved only if space is available.
Permissive temporary duty assignment for house-hunting purposes is limited to a 10-day stay. It is recommended that the member is accompanied by a spouse only (no children) to allow assignment to available visiting airmen’s quarters or visiting officers’ quarters during periods of limited TLF availability. Permanent change of stationing out, separating and retiring members are limited to a five days at a time stay.
