When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
If you arrive after 4:30 p.m., or on weekends or holidays, go to the 24-hour arrival point, the Westwind Inn, located in Building 402, 570 Travis Ave, Travis AFB, CA 94535.
Permissive TDY
Before beginning permissive TDY for house hunting, you must first check in with your Unit Commander Support Staff (CSS) and confirm that a proper leave request has been submitted to your gaining commander.
Documents to Hand Carry
Important papers should not be packed with your household goods or hold baggage. Plan to take the following items with you: ID cards, Permanent Change of Station orders, passports, leave authorizations, shot records for you and your family, medical records, all documents pertaining to the shipment of household goods including your personal inventory and/or pictures of your possessions, appraisals for valuable items, last leave and earnings statement, Power of Attorney (check expiration date), wills, bank books, state and federal tax records, deeds and mortgages, professional licenses, car registration, spouse resume and last pay statement, list of stocks and bonds, social security cards, school records for children, letters of credit for utility waivers, original birth and adoption records, and naturalization records.
60 AMW
When you arrive at Travis Force Base, your first step is to contact your unit. Your supervisor or sponsor will direct you to your unit Commander Support Staff for in-processing. If you are assigned to a detachment, you should report to Customer Service located in the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) for in-processing.
MPF
Military Personnel Flight hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday located at 540 Airlift Drive, Building 381. **Closed on Federal Holidays, Wing Down Days, and 4th Thursday of every month. The Military Personnel Flight only accepts walk-ins for Active Duty and Reserve military members, GS Civilians and Contractors that require assistance with their Common Access Cards. All others (retirees, dependents, disabled vets) are by appointment only. Appointments can be made at the following link: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/locator.
FINANCE
In-processing - The 60th Comptroller Squadron, Financial Operations Flight has walk-in in-processing briefings. Click the link for more info https://www.travis.af.mil/Units/60TH-Comptroller-Squadron/.
Members attend a CPTS In-processing briefing on either Monday or Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Auditorium of Erwin Hall (building 381). The Auditorium is located near the mini shopping Center.
We will walk through completing the PCS voucher and other related documents. Each member will receive a one-on-one voucher review prior to leaving. Please make sure to bring all orders, amendments, and receipts. To speed up your time in the briefing, please have all of your travel related receipts digitally available when you enter the brief.

Newcomers' Orientation – 60 AMW
All newly assigned members of the 60th Air Mobility Wing (60 AMW) are required to attend the Newcomers' Orientation within 30 days of arrival. This mandatory briefing provides essential information to help you transition smoothly into your new assignment.
The orientation is held bi-weekly on Thursdays from 8:15 to 10:30 a.m. at the Delta Breeze Community Center, located at 400 Windward Drive, Bldg. 400, Travis AFB, CA 94535.
It is open to all newcomers, including Active-Duty Military, and DoD Civilians. Spouses are encouraged to attend and must be registered.

Travis Air Force Base is home to the 349th Reserve Wing, which may affect availability in lodging during UTA weekends (typically the first and third weekends of the month). To reserve lodging, call 707-424-8000 ext.0, email 60FSS.Westwind.Inn@us.af.mil or register online.
If you get married before you PCS or while en route, you must report to the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) Customer Support Section (Building 381) with a copy of the marriage certificate, spouse's social security card, and spouse's photo ID (driver's license or passport). Spouse must be present to issue a dependent ID card. Ask the DEERS technician to print a DD Form 1172. The DD Form 1172 will need to be turned into the MPF Force Management Section so the PCS order can be amended. NOTE: Address on the amendment for the spouse should be the address the spouse resided at when the marriage occurred. NOTE: If marriage occurs after the member arrives to Travis, no entitlements are authorized for the spouse, so no amendment will be generated.
Benefit of the Amended orders is your spouse with have a hiring preference to assist in federal employment. Military spouses are given certain preferences when applying for Department of Defense civilian jobs.
With the help of the Military Spouse Preference program, you can build your career as you move with the military. Usage requirements of military spouse preference — You may apply for positions using your military spouse preference until you either accept or decline a permanent and appropriated or non-appropriated fund position. You will not lose your military spouse preference if you accept or decline a temporary position

The Newcomers Orientation is mandatory for all incoming service members within their first 30 days of arrival. The session includes six mandated briefings. The orientation also includes an Information Fair in which members will meet representatives from additional base organizations and community agencies providing you with resources and information in support of your new assignment. Civilians and Spouses are welcome to attend.
Advance registration is required for all attendees to ensure adequate seating.
HearLink / Spouse Connect
Heartlink is a welcoming Air Force program designed for spouses, hosted by the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC). It helps spouses learn about military life, meet others, and feel more connected to the Travis AFB community.
This program is designed to support military families and improve mission readiness. It helps spouses understand active-duty life and their important role in supporting their Airman. Heartlink is held quarterly, at the SPRIING Connection Corner, 520 1st Street, Travis AFB, CA 94535 (indoor play area available for children).
