If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
For urgent emergency assistance, dial 911 off base or 707-424-4911 on base.
The Air Force Aid Society provides emergency financial relief, quality of life enhancement programs and educational loans and grants to Air Force personnel and their families. Similar assistance is provided for Army, Marine and Navy personnel and their families. The Air Force Aid Society is located at www.AFAS.org, go to emergency assistance tab, and apply. You will be assigned a case worker to assist you with the approval process process. AFAS is located in Virginia and from Travis AFB they are closed at 1:30 PST. Please contact your local Military & Family Readiness Center for guidance on How to Apply or call the AFAS HQ Emergency Assistance Section at 703-972-2604.
EMERGENCY TRAVEL – ALL EMERGENCY TRAVEL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE REQUIRED DUE TO SERIOUS ILLNESS/DEATH OF AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER, GRANDPARENT OR OTHER FAMILY RELATIONSHIP WILL BE PROCESSED THROUGH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS (ARC). PLEASE CONTACT THE ARC AT 1-877-272-7337 FOR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE.

The American Red Cross is a trusted, global movement of people who provide training, assistance, relief and help others to avoid and cope with disasters and other emergencies. Service to military families is an integral part of their mission. Red Cross services at Travis Air Force Base includes 24-hour emergency communications between service members and their families separated by distance. The main office is located on the first floor at the north side of David Grant Medical Center. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For daytime assistance, please call 707-423-3648. For after-hour emergencies, please call 877-272-7337.
