Youth Services Overview

A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development.  Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.

The Travis Youth Programs offers a variety of activities for school age youth ages 5-18 years. The program is certified through the Department of Defense and is affiliate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and 4-H providing opportunities for development in character and leadership, education and careers, health and life skills, the arts, sports and fitness and recreation. Youth Programs offers a variety of BGCA social programs such as the Keystone Club, Torch Club, Passport to Manhood, Smart Girls and Youth of the Year. The program offerings include:

  • School-Age Program – which provides opportunities for youth to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities and to experience achievement, leadership, enjoyment, friendship, and recognition. Before and after school care is offered outside of school hours, when school is not in session camps are offered, Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Youth Recreation and Sports - encourage children ages 5-12 years to be physically active. The program offers training for children in the basic rules of playing sports like basketball, baseball, soccer and football. Volunteer coaches are encouraged to participate and support the program. All training for the volunteer coaches is free of charge.
  • Open Recreation and Teen Program provide an opportunity for youth to gather in a social setting during after school hours to participate in developmental activities closely related to BGCA and 4-H. The youth in these programs can hang out with friends or study, be involved in structure and unstructured activities as well as community service events. The Open Recreation Program is for youth 10-12 years while the Teen Program serves school age children 13-18 years. The hours of operation are directly after school from 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm. During the periods when school is out of session, the programs open as earlier as 12:30 pm.
