Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
Dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry into the United States and must be currently vaccinated to reside at Travis Air Force Base. Direct your vaccination, and registration questions to 707-424-3010. When living on base the dog/cat must have a micro-chip and be current on their rabies vaccination.
Travis Air Force Base Veterinary Treatment Facility is professionally staffed by Army Veterinary Corps personnel with the primary mission of providing complete veterinary care for all government-owned animals.
Our staff understands how important your pet is to you and with that in mind, we also offer many types of routine care services for the pets of active-duty military, 100% disabled veterans, and 20-year retired military personnel. For availability of services or to schedule an appointment please call the number listed below.
All pets living on base must be registered with the VTF upon arrival. On-Base Housing may limit the number and breed of pets that can reside in on-base housing. Contact on-base housing for more information regarding this matter.
We want to stress this clinic is not an emergency clinic and we do not provide any emergency care. ALL veterinary emergency cases (eye, life, or limb) must be taken to a full service civilian veterinary hospital.

Bring your pet into the United States from a foreign country (Import)
There are no quarantines required for pets being transported to the continental United States CONUS.
Pets are only transported aboard Air Mobility Command Patriot Express flights in conjunction with your permanent change of station, or PCS, travel. Pets are defined as dogs and cats only. Refer to the AMC Pet Brochure for information concerning: size and weight restrictions, and kennel requirements. It is highly recommended PCS personnel contact their local transportation office as early as possible to book your pet space. Pet spaces are limited to 2 pets per family. If you have a 3rd pet, contact your transportation office 15 days prior to your AMC flight departure to determine if any additional pet spaces are available. Fees are determined by the pet's weight with kennel. There are no waivers to the transportation of pets. The AMC Pet Brochure can be found on the AMC Travel site. For all other inquiries concerning pet travel contact the passenger terminal at 707-424-1854.
